Good Morning Friend,
It’s a good thing they didn’t bring that stupid thing before the dessert – I might have lost my appetite…
(more about that in a minute)
My wife and I go the chance to break free from the kids under foot every minute of everyday during summer break to grab a VERY nice bite to eat. But…
this isn’t about the cedar plank salmon, the chimicurri chicken or the smooth cab we had with dinner
this isn’t about the incredibly helpful and responsive server
this isn’t about the ambiance of the romatically lit and appointed restaurant
this IS ABOUT what happened AFTER the sweet – yet tart – lemon crème brûlée hit our table…
As they brought out the bill – they had the audacity (tongue and cheek) to drop in a rewards request card!
How dare they bring a master marketer an old school “squeeze page”?!
They asked 4 simple things:
If I didn’t like my service or the food, or feel that I got great value, I would have left the card blank on the tray – paid my bill & gone home.
But, that’s NOT what I did…
I gave them:
2 names – 2 email addresses – 1 anniversay & 2 birthdays…
Because they did a great job and as a local marketing expert, I’m supporting their habit to…
NEVER LET YOUR CUSTOMERS LEAVE WITHOUT GETTING THEIR CONTACT INFORMATION!
I’ve just given them license to send me offers (at least) for…
My birthday – my wife’s birthday & our anniversary.
But, I have to be honest with you… If I get an offer from them everyday, I’d LOVE IT!
Why? Because they’re doing the right thing. They’re letting me know that they have something I might like and inviting me to take advantage of an opportunity to let them serve me free range chicken, non-antibiotic beef and organic vegetables all over a mesquite grill – AND I DIG THAT!
So, let’s take this chimichurri for a little ride…
How do you set up your shop, your online presence or your professional service to capture contact information for as many people as possible? In particular… happy customers?
+ If you’re a brick and mortar – it’s a hard copy list (maybe old school pen and paper).
+ If you’re an online or digital marketer – it’s a way to capture their email address (maybe even phone and physical address)
+ If you provide professional services – it might be a way to “connect” with them on LinkedIn (which gives you direct access to email addresses by the way)
But, if you’re anything like me – you want a simple solution….
A solution to take advantage of the hard work you’ve already put into your business.
And – if you’re already blogging, or providing online content with WordPress – there’s a super easy way to do this…
NEVER let an opportunity to leverage existing content go!
