When was the last time you strapped on track shoes and competed for a medal?
It’s been 34 looooong years for me. Now I have a personal philosophy that says “thou shalt not run unless being chased!”. But my daughter has decided that’s just silly and she’s knee deep into training for the 400m.
BUT SHE HAS A HUGE CHALLENGE!
Everyday, she’s faced with a wolverine with sharp claws and pointed teeth that are tearing at her free time. She’s a great athlete and a straight-A student, but she’s having to sacrifice time to practice – because she wants to win the medal.
See, this is her first year running track and the first year running a mid-distance event. Although her DNA is pure athlete and she already figured out gymnastics, dance, and some cross country running – mid lengths are a whole new ball game! A whole new mind set. A whole new set of skills.
She’s back to fundamentals & those fundamentals take A LOT of work – robbing her blind of free time.
I wish I could chase down that wild monster of a wolverine and..
Hog tie it.
File down it’s brown bloody claws.
Rip out its yellow plaque layered teeth. One by one.
Stuff it and put it on the wall.
WHILE she watches.
Because I want to be her hero.
I want to make something she loves SUPER EASY for her.
I want to take away all her frustration.
Then I got to thinking… Isn’t that what our products and services are doing for our clients? Aren’t we caging the beast and dismembering it right before our customer’s eyes?
Aren’t we pulverizing their struggles to make their lives FAST & EASY?
I’m working on copywriting for clients – high converting landing pages – list building and fire-breathing email campaigns for clients….
In every effective piece, I find myself showing the reader every last hair of the wolverine and the evil in it’s eyes so that I can position the product or service we’re selling as the hero – vanquishing the wolverine piece by piece.
It’s about fundamentals.
It’s about getting back to basics.
It’s about solving the real problem – the physical, emotional, and societal desires of my clients that does the real selling for me. It’s about the stuff that’s on the other side of the wolverine that really matters.
It’s like building a FUNDAMENTAL tool – like an autoresponder & showing my clients how six simple steps gives them the power to communicate deeply with their customers – just like I do with you everyday.
Let’s get back to basics together and slay the wolverines in our customers lives!
